Benchmarking Study: Digger Derrick

The graphs below are derived from the data of over 50 of our utility and municipal fleet benchmarking clients and their active Digger Derricks. The sample included nearly 12,000 vehicles weighing less than or equal to 55,000 GVWR. The data being used represents the patterns we have seen from the industry average of the selected sample.

This graph shows the operating cost (all parts and labor) net of fuel per mile for the Digger Derrick. As the graph indicates, as a Digger Derrick ages, the operating cost per 1,000 miles also increases. The overall operating cost for the Digger Derrick in Year 1 was $1,193 per 1,000 miles, while in Year 10 it was $4,156 per 1,000 miles, an increase of $2,963 or 148% over the 10 years.
