Utilimarc Benchmarking: What’s New to the Platform?

Paul MilnerFebruary 2, 2023

The Utilimarc team is happy to announce a new and improved redesign of the benchmarking application for fleets. The product is used by nearly 60 municipalities and utilities fleets today and backed by over a decade of data. With a continuous growth in customers, our team is dedicated to evolving the product alongside everchanging industry needs.

What’s new to the product?

The new application features improvements for a more dynamic customer experience and deeper understanding of fleet data. With an expanded report set, increased visualizations and filter capabilities and macro-level Benchmark Study trends, the redesign delivers an in-depth data reporting experience on an intuitive and interactive platform.

A dynamic interface: Along with a new homepage, the benchmarking application has a new feel overall. In effort to make reports more interactive, an enhanced filter menu allows users to  view data sets by subcompanies, year, vehicle class, and various metrics. Users can also change the look of tables to show or hide certain information, making it easy to highlight and present on specific findings.

Exceptions reporting: One of the most exciting additions to the new application is the new selection of exceptions reports. Users can analyze fleet averages and quickly identify any outliers in Labor Hours, Low-Utilized Vehicles, Maintenance Costs, Purchase Prices, Total Cost and Work Order Counts. The box plot graphs show the average range for your fleet with dots to identify each anomaly. Additionally, users can click onto these outliers to dig into the unit-level details such as exact vehicle number, location, and age.

New visualizations: The visual component of data analytics makes all the difference in users actually understanding the reports they receive. For that reason, adding a data visualization to nearly every report was very important. In addition to tradition data tables, users can scan over shaded area graphs, density plots, box plots, outlier scatterplots, heat maps and more.

Why is benchmarking important?

Simply put: you can’t manage what you can’t measure.

Benchmarking your fleet data helps you to measure your fleet’s performance not only against your own year-over-year data, but against the industry standard as well. This kind of insight is invaluable when it comes to discovering anomalies, understanding industry-wide trends and implementing change into your own fleet management strategy.
