BENCHMARKING

Cost Per Asset

Break down your costs per unit across all facets of fleet operation.

How does it work?

The Cost per Asset report provides class-specific analysis on annual costs distributed by unit count, mileage utilization, fuel gallon consumption or vehicle equivalency for your fleet.

What to look for

This report summarizes your organization’s total annual cost distributed per unit and compares it against our benchmarking participants previous calendar year. Our analysis is run only for units that were active and in service for the entire calendar year – making your comparison clear and focused to help you make the best decisions possible.

The Payoff:

Understand where your costs per asset is allocated – from maintenance and repairs to fuel and utilization for all active units in your fleet for the last three years. Compared against our benchmark participants, you’ll be able to key in on outsourced maintenance, annual internal technician labor hours, mean time between service and percentage of low mileage units.

BENCHMARKING

Asset Age

Summarize your fleet’s overall age of assets and compare your fleet age to the industry norm.

How does it work?

The Asset Age report provides information about the average age of your fleet, compared against fleet age averages of our current benchmarking participant list. You’ll see in a summary dashboard the comparisons of youngest, oldest and and average fleet age in calendar years.

What to look for

Depending on your projected vehicle lifecycles, the Asset Age report will help you understand when you should actually replace fleet assets – this could differ from lifecycle projection recommendations or your industry peers.

The Payoff:

This report looks at average age of your fleet, but also helps you provide any rationale needed to gain approval for increased capital expenditures for the next budget cycle – should you need to replace any assets or add to your fleet mix in the coming year.

BENCHMARKING

Asset Utilization

Learn which of your fleet assets are being utilized most and least.

How does it work?

The Asset Utilization report will help you identify which assets within your fleet are being over-utilized, under-utilized or right on track. You’ll be able to deeply look into utilization metrics based on annual mileage, fuel consumption and internal/external class code averages across the industry.

What to look for

If you have a vehicle with a low annual mileage rate, this could signify an opportunity to transfer an asset from its current location to one that may be requiring more vehicles to maintain a workload. On the flip side, it could also signal a need to undergo a right-sizing initiative and remove no-longer-needed spare units.

The Payoff:

With this report, you’ll be able to narrow in on a customized asset-utilization analysis focusing on either your company, or internal sub-companies that make up your organization to look at vehicle and equipment type mileage-based queries and total utilization. This comparison, internally and against industry peers, will provide the information necessary to right-size your fleet and create data-based cost reduction opportunities.

BENCHMARKING

Purchase Prices

Discover the average purchase prices for fleet vehicles industry-wide.

How does it work?

The Purchase Price report works with your purchasing information for every fleet asset to deliver the average purchase price for each class of equipment within your fleet mix. We define the purchase price as all value added to a unit in service, though not every company in our benchmark is able to provide this information annually.

What to look for

With this report, you’ll be able to see from a high level overview (and broken down by each specific asset class) whether you’re spending more, less or even with industry leading peers on the units within your fleet.

The Payoff:

Understanding your average purchase price as compared to your industry peers can aid in your overall comprehension of all classes’ unit specifications.

How many hours are your technicians charging per unit?

How does it work?

The Technician Billed Hours report analyzes billed hours that have been charged to each unit within your fleet – performed by internal technicians or outsourced maintenance providers – compared to that of your industry peers.

What to look for

This report will help you quickly understand whether you’re tracking your technician hours accurately – for example, determining if your maintenance is being booked as a general work order or specific work order for each asset that needs it.

The Payoff:

Along with accurate reporting, you’ll be able to track overtime, understand where your technicians are spending their time and even compare technician wages across the industry. This report pulls information from the current benchmarking participants to give you a strong insight for each metric industry-wide.
